I saw a mole running around my patch and near my pumpkin. I thought at first a few days ago I had mice and bought Decon. 3 boxes emptied later. I see the mole. What kind of damage can they do to my pumpkin ? Do they eat at it ? Getting close to weighoff time and a little worried now. Thanks.

It's been my experience that moles aren't a threat to your pumpkins but they will dig silver dollar sized holes through your patch looking for worms and other goodies. They really disturbed my LG plants this year, all were grown in raised beds and the mole tunnels were everywhere. Watering heavily discouraged them but the only real cure is ....

Buy a Nash loop trap works great. If your lawn is dry water your lawn the moles are after the worms in your soil the water brings the worms to the surface. So they go to the wetter ares to get worms. So water your lawn & set traps there or at the edge of your patch so you minimize root damage from setting trap.

Ok Thanks. But do they nibble on the pumpkins at all is what I am most worried about ? I will trap them today. Worried if I may be too late if they like to nibble on the pumpkin. Thanks for the help guys.

They don't eat pumpkins, you should be alright.

Moles can wreck havoc on roots or at least the dirt around them. I found a tunnel/hole right at the base of one of my melon plants this year. I saw weight gains cut in half. I hate those little bastards.
