with all the weigh-offs nearing i wanted to take a moment to congratulate all who labored through the spring and summer to get those giants to the scale.

from spring protection, insect disposal, stem splits, dill rings, critters, mother nature, indented blossoms, high hopes and disasters, sprays and drenches, you made it throough.

we all want to win. its only natural. or at least it will be if you stay in the hobby long enough.
the great thing about this hobby? each year is a do over.you apply what you learned the previous year and try again.lets also not forget the fantastic friendships that are formed around this hobby.

our best to all who stay the course for the entire season.
your all winners in my book.

Well said paps, overall a tough season in colorado.Too hot, sounds like the midwest was worse. Not for the easily discouraged.Cant wait to see what makes it to the scale-always the fun part of the season.

Being a younger grower in this hobby that is the first thing I picked up. Every grower I have ever met has given me advice and knowledge to take in for the next session. I am very happy to be a giant pumpkin because of that.

I'd take an indented blossom any day! LOL.

I hope that 1647 is a "sucker" and +15% as well.

All you can really do is compete with yourself. Too many variables to get discouraged by what someone else has got. Hoping for a lot of personal bests to hit the scale in the next four weeks. Good luck to everyone!

It´s always the growers fault, the grower lives in the wrong location with the worst weather, the grower picks the wrong seed out of the set of proven seeds, the grower makes the wrong choice which one to let become the keeper...and everything above 50 lbs looks like a good thing now, because all the effort that went into the patch did help overcome the above mentioned bad bad things. Every year is a new challenge, and every year has new variables. Good luck to you all!

I had a great year, but it was over early. I still walk out to the pumpkin patch to look at it even though there is nothing there. I just stand there and look at it.

As a new grower this year has been great. Nobody in this small mountain town has ever seen a big pumpkin. I set my monster(300 pounds, don't laugh) at my parents house on main street. I am being treated like a hero. Thanks to all who have posted so much help. I have learned a ton. Cant wait till next year!

I'm also a first year grower and if it wasn't for this web site I would be probably sitting on a 15o pounder, but instead I got an 810 pounder to the scales and look forward to next year. I just hope I don't have to spend big $ for seeds this winter. lol
