I will be there for only a week - Sunday to Sunday and we have Peter Gabriel tickets for Monday night - other than that I'm wide open for suggestions. We're staying in Old Town and I know about the Zoo and Seaworld and the train ride up to LegoLand in Carlsbad but if you guys and gals know about any hidden gems (gardens, history stuff etc.), please throw a few suggestions out there. Travel tips are greatly appreciated.

Oh, I forgot, there is an old San Diego with the old west kinds of buildings and they give walking tours,,,
Also, do not drive over the border into Mexico, go, but take a bus tour or the tiajuana taxi,,,Your car insurance will not cover you if something happens over there, plus, the bus will take you right into the shopping district and the drivers will tell you the best places to deal and the safe places to eat, etc.

I would not go to Mexico at all right now. Look up your State department travel warnings and restrictions. US state department assessment of northern Baja State and Tijuana: " You should exercise caution in the northern state of Baja California, particularly at night. Targeted TCO assassinations continue to take place in Baja California. Turf battles between criminal groups proliferated and resulted in numerous assassinations in areas of Tijuana frequented by U.S. citizens. Shooting incidents, in which innocent bystanders have been injured, have occurred during daylight hours throughout the city. In one such incident, an U.S. citizen was shot and seriously wounded. According to the Government of Mexico, as of August 2011, the city’s murder rate was approximately 20 per 100,000. During 2011, 34 U.S. citizens were the victims of homicide in the state. In the majority of these cases, the killings appeared to be related to narcotics trafficking."
