Here is the weighoff results at the Morton IL. Pumpkin Festival. I almost went to this but left the 1308 Barenie to grow. Don't know if the GPC is involved on this but when I printed off their registration sheet it had GPC rules and guidlines. Maybe someone here would know for sure.

Congrats to everyone! This is one weigh-off that my friends in Peoria encourage me to attend, I hope someday they may consider becoming a GPC weigh-off site, especially with the long history of pumpkin growing in the area associated with Libby's.

Central illinois is an ideal weigh off place for many. Those from st. Louis area, southern illinois, both indiana and iowa, and us northern illinois growers as well. Early weigh offs might be the future of new illinois or indiana records.II would be glad to get involved with anyone from morton area to get one early gpc event in illinois and and our other traditional 1st weekend late sept/beginning of oct. 1st Sunday at Bengtsons.

Nestle is the current sponsor for this event, they own the Libby’s plant. I have made the last four weigh-offs at this site with each year having a smaller turn out. The weigh-off is held on a Tuesday night and prize money is $300 for first. Maybe having the weigh-off on a weeknight and not much prize money is the problem with the turn out. I know the city of Morton would like to see more and bigger pumpkins come to their festival. My 633 was yellow and had stem rot, I was lucky to nurse it long enough to get it to Morton. I am looking forward to bringing a pumpkin up to Bengston’s in a couple weeks. Brexton
