Mixed results; the biggest AG was about 500 pounds, and stayed green; after about 6 weeks on the vine at the same weight, a racoon ate through the side. The seeds were fully developed and some of the largest I've ever seen, and the vine never wilted once, even on 108 degree days. so I might try it again. do some of them just never turn orange, or maybe I got a squash cross?
Biggest field pumpkin was a little over 80 pounds, but we got over sixty nice pumpkins; many of the donated seeds I was given grew beautiful plants, but never set in the heat. All MacKinnon seeds flourished and produced wonderfully; it was these that Martha Stewart bought. One last surprise for the season; I crossed MacKinnon 162 seedling with a .3 pound Jack be Little; and planted the resulting seeds 6 weeks ago and it has just started to set pumpkins, vine has intermediate sixed leaves but started setting pumpkins at only 3' long. hope they beat the halloween freeze
