Here is my pumpkin: OTT-342 est-879lbs http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq188/Higgins24/204970BC-05A5-4655-85FD-13A8F78B8E1A-8538-00000A2FB54725A1.jpg
I'm a first time grower and I would like to know if it's advisable to present this pumpkin on its bottom where the flower was (the traditional way) and not on it's side how it grew. Can it support itself like that ?

I've carved a few of these beasts for halloween. Beleive me when I tell you the thinest part of the kin is at the blossom end and the thickest at the stem end. I'm not going to say "don't do it" as every kin is differant!!!

I did that with my 990 a couple years ago. It was a thin walled fruit and was fine.

I have never had one split on its bottom displaying them.

I carved my 655 in 2009 sitting on it's blossom end. It was fine and it also looked a lot larger that way. :-)

The most important thing is to load it with the most stable side down, usually the flat side how it grew in the patch. I've seen pumpkins weighed upside down before it don't matter.

Well I tipped it with 4 guys helping ( still incredibly heavy ) without a problem but I had no clue that there would be no color on the bottom, I figured it wouldn't be orange but at least a cream color was expected. Can it still turn orange ?
