GotZ me a Sweatie Stem now....been a heck of a year....Upon inZspection Sunday I found BeadZ of Sweat.....on me stem. Upon probing my stem I found several areas of rotZ starting.....So I cleaned my stem good....with LyZsol wipeZ... and let the sun shine on it!
What doeZ thiZ signify....pumpkin no longer taking the juice to grow? Or did I play with it too much?

Good question....I'll be interested in everyone's answers! We're wondering why we have a watery lime green slow ooze just below the stem itself...seems to still be growing, but still...it's frustrating, isn't it??!! Never ends. When's your weighoff? I bet your stem is fine if you keep it dry!!

Yes keeping it dry....it will be the first to go....in 3 weeks....
IZ this due to too much water hitting me stem? Or a sign the fruit iZ not taking as much aZ the plant iZ giving?

I've heard it means the fruit is bulking up inside, maybe she'll go heavy

Don't get sun burn on your stem Wiz. I think you should play with it more to drain the ooze!!!

I'm not sure what causes it, but I've had this happen to me and it ended up with a stem rotting from inside out. Hopefully that is not what is happening to you.
I was able to open the stem up, scrape out the rot, treated with peroxide and a fan and was able to keep rot from getting into the pumpkin for 45 days and was still 9.5% heavy.

We just had a 3" rain. One of my stems is sweating a bit. Captan and a fan are your best friends.

gary all kidding aside? we use a stem dusting of sulfer from about 300 pounds on out to seasons end, keeping the area dry and exposed to the sun daily as well as covering the stem late season when it rains. have never had a stem issue after using this method. pap

I have the same problem. Keep it dry and let it heal over. As of now my pumpkin is a bit slow growing actually a dead stop but its getting a nice cracked skin.
