I have also enjoyed Chris' diary...."So.Cal.Grower". He not only has overwhelming enthusiasm, but he has done his homework, and put in the time and work.
Congratulations, Chris, on a job well done!

Love the nice orange color on the 980 -- and it is amazing how he got both pollinations at pretty much the same distance on the main vine - looks very symmetrical.

How cool to come home from work to this! Yes, its been an amazing year to say the least! I'm hooked and its on for next year!!! Thanks so much for the kind words Glenn :) you have been really helpful throughout the year, you really know your stuff and what we need for our climate!!! Keep pushing that bad boy up there!!!
And thanks to everyone else that's sent uplifting and encouraging emails :):) It was all of you that got me where I'm at today!!!
One year ago I wanted a 300 pounder,,,,,,,,,,,,, got in touch with Tom P. and extreme pumpkin store........... When he told me I would have a thousand pounder in the middle of my backyard at the end of the season I thought he was nutzzzzzzz!!! He wrote me a plan, like Nana Rea said, I did lots of work and I now have 2 just under a 1000 lbs. sitting right in the middle of the backyard!!!!!! And your 980 Jim,,, is still putting on the pounds!!!
Thanks everyone for being so amazing my first year out!!!
Oh, BarryL,,,,,,,,,,,, that has been on my mind too :) Its going to be a small crane in my neighbors yard over the fence or I'm going to take down a small area of fence on my side and go from there! Wish me luck,,,,,,,,,,, because I'm going to need it :):):)

I've really enjoyed your diary as well Chris. Each day I check the diaries, especially to see if you or Jim, or Vince have any new pics of your pumpkins, grown on the 980 Fredricks. What beautiful pumpkins!

What a great guy to follow all year long. Chris certainly did his homework and did alot of hard work! I like to say "the proof is in the pudding". He has definitely shown what can be done in a small area. If there was a How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins Vol. IV, this guy would be one of the featured growers for small square footage! WAY TO GO CHRIS!

Chris, congratulations you have done a great job this year and your diary is always entertaining! One of my favorites is the picture of you sleeping with your pumpkin. That was pretty funny. Thanks for making your pumpkin adventures fun for all of us too. I vote Chris for new grower of the year.
