Anyone name their pumpkin? I've found you gotta name them after females because just like a woman and the weather they can be easy one minute and throwing a temper tantrumthe next! Ohhhhhh! Relax im kidding!

Lon kenny.....I hear ya. I name some after women, some after what the pumpkin looks like, some after favorite musicians or people...men or women.....but mostly try not to force a name on a pumpkin....let the pumpkin tell you the name after rolling it through your noggin....and I try not to name until after I choose the "one" per plant. Its all just for fun....shits n giggles

Mine is named Kate after Kate Smith who sang,"God Bless America." Ed Sullivan would bring her out at the end of his show to sing, which promp Yogi Berra to say, "It aint over till the fat lady sings." My pumpkin is slightly obese and is one of the Freaks kids.

Kenny, I prefer to monitor their behavior and will then probably give them the right name...hence, no names in the diary so far. Anyway, the first candidate might receive the name "old little ugly beast"...does this match your observation that many pumpkins are named after females?

My kids like to name them after cartoon characters. Last year I had Mario and Luigi. This year I had Phineas and Ferb. I use the word 'had' because Ferb (Sperry 1304) stop growing after the plant got a disease and Phineas (Wallace 1789) split on day 30.

Lizzie for my Bordsn seed, Millie for my Miller and Penny for my Pingrey. Last year was my first year growing. When I went to my first weigh-off calling my pumpkin Henry, I was immediately schooled by the real growers that pumpkins are females. Oops. Leason learned. :)
