I will tell you what kind! It is the wife who is pleased to see her husband with a past –time he enjoys because you see the ‘she’ is an ‘it’. The ‘it’ is a giant pumpkin! It is an affair-an affair of the heart in a different way.
His fascination with growing giant pumpkins began as a challenge! Something my husband never wants to lose regardless of the challenge. His first pumpkin in 2005 was less than 100 lbs and by 2010 he had reached 1280lbs! Now he’s aiming for 1500+. With his determination, the kids and I are certain he can achieve that goal.
This affair is not for the weak and apathetic. It requires careful planning – Match.com or eHarmony has nothing on the suitable criteria for pairing. Genetics is a major factor, but so too is weather and don’t forget luck. He has driven 6 hours round trip to get pollen from a male flower for his female only blossoms. It would almost make one blush to think of the goings on in that pumpkin patch!
Apparently there are many men all over the world having this same type of affair. I know because there are many sites on the internet dedicated to these types of affairs. Phone calls and visits from the men on these sites does nothing to assure us that the affair is coming to an end anytime soon.
