my question is, is it o.k to cut off the button on the blosem end flush with the skin,the pumpkin i have growing will crush down shortly on to the button,woried it might split the blossem end,thanks for any replies John G.

john if it were me id leave it and just dig out a small hole for the blossom to rest in. cutting it is never a natural thing to do but if you had to im sure the risk is minimal. me? id just dig a hole for the blossom to rest in if i was that worried.i dont like cutting on the fruit unless i have no alternative. pap

If you have no choice, then cut it off. We.ve done it a few times without problems. I'm not sure if I'd cut it off flush. We left a 1/2" stub to allow it to dry out. I don't like to do it unless we have no choice. I'd follow Paps advise & dig out a small hole if possible.
