I have 1662 stelts on the main vine @ 15' out, alot of secondarys behind it. 15' of main beyond it with few secondarys and another small fruit. The stem is in a poor position as is. Has anyone had luck terminating the main at the fruit?

Yes, I had to cut all of the main beyond my 500 lb fruit a few weeks ago because the stem position was bad and stressing the stem. The pumpkin seems to be doing fine. Growth is slowing but that could be just age of the fruit and plant, and from what I've read the main beyond the fruit does not contribute much to fruit growth. Good luck.
