1) Name of grower/growers in your area or region that have officially dropped off the radar for the year or have recently been being more secretive about the activity's in their patch.

2) Number of plants they are growing and the last known size of the pumpkins/Squashes that were in their patch.

Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone out here who is sandbagging. I have seen some big sunflowers around and some pretty beefy corn and maters though.

I have been contemplating dropping off the radar..Why should I post my progress and let everyone else know where I am at ..It isn't much fun to have others know where you are and not having any fun comparing to other local growers. Plus..it could be fun. Maybe I'll just post some pictures but stop giving data...

Norm us growers in the east bay have gotten whacked by critters as well a weeds. Not enough time in the day. Getting a fruit set was a big feat here. The sandbag has dropped right on our heads! Even getting a fruit to the weighoff seems like a big deal.

Your not including Ron and Pap also are ya??,nawwww ya cant be if ur talking about critter problems......cause they have a high power electrical fence around their patch that is conected to a power line that runs by their house.

we dont broadcast our measurements /etc, but by the same token have never turned away a visitor or not answered anyones questions.

some of the growers ,especially many who do not post here, prefer to stay under the radar for the entire season.
hey ,different strokes for different folks.thats their business.

personally?,i will say we are doing well with both early and later pollinations. some are in line with past heros and some a bit behind.
we have treated one foamer and saved it, lost 90% of another plant but kept the pumpkin and two sides and, will be completely deadheaded tomorrow.

the rest of the season will be to maintain and upkeep the plant and fruit.( both disease prevention and fruit growth )

my 1647 plant is a bit ahead of last years 1647 but who knows ? ill know better in a month.i have one other fruit growing off a donated plant --- both were pollinated july 1st. both are within a few pounds of each other.

way to early to count those chickens.

Kenny, the weeds in my patch help to prop up my leaves in the wind... But they also hide critters and snakes. Pap, thanks for the report! And also its good to hear that there are a lot of sandbaggers out there this year, I am sure in Wisconsin and in many other states and country's.

I prefer to share all year long....instead of just try the WOW factor..at the weigh off....different strokeZ for different folkZ>...Really it doeZnt affect the growth rate on the fruit....
