After reading the "obituary" below, the question for the week is.....How many did you lose this week with all the storms and whatever else came your way.

I lost a 201" perfect fruit. Plant was very healthy. Abort.

Also , I lost a stump and the first 2 secondaries plus 300 sq ft of 3rd stage growth on another.

So how was your week, Lol !

I have lost 11 (aborts)total, but we have had 13 days over 100 in just July already (Saint Louis). No Rain since May either, I feel bad for the corn and soybean farmers. Canada and the cold air is the spot to be IMO.

I lost the pumpkin on the 1320 Snyder, last weekend it was 35" cc on day 12 and that is where it stopped. It looked really health when I put the picture in my diary. Luckily, I have another one further out on the main vine. It's an open pollination. Let's see if it will survive. Plants here also look very healthy.
I also had a fair amount of wind damage in the patch this week from storms Thursday and Friday evenings.

I didn't lose any fruits this week but got a lot of plant damage from some very strong storms that rolled through the area. Everything that wasn't burried got twisted up and much of what was burried got broken off where the leaf stalks come out of the ground. Luckily we only got a few seconds of hail.

Sorry for mispost, that was total on the plant and not this week. And, none of them made it mast 4 days old. It's a lot harder to lose them like I have seen in other diaries when 30 days old.

I lost my last 4 fruits last week. Saturday morning, completely cleaned out the patch. The AGs chores for this year are done. I can now start fall patch preps in August. This heat in Iowa has been ridiculous. Mother nature wins, game over.

I'm just s few miles from Scott and I'm nearly in the same boat. I have 1 plant with a stump and a groundhog ate the pumpkin on a secondary. One plant with no stump and no flowers. My son has one without a stump that has 2 small pumpkins and 2 plants with stumps and no pumpkins. Our field pumpkins are growing wierd fruit that look like gourd crosses. Our long gourds are going just fair and so are the watermelons. Our second worst season ever. Beside the heat and lack of rain I have had to deal with hip and hand surgeries, blown lawnmower and tiller engines, rabbits, bugs, ground hogs and pythium. Next year will be better, it can't get much worse.

Lost 1 of 4 . Aborted at day 32 about 300 lbs. I cant see a reason why so I guess its soilborne.

I just pulled my 1213.5 REA. It started off a dark yellow and was close to the 20 day mark when it aborted.

I pulled the entire plant tonight and plan to do grass like Arvada Boy in its place.
