On the 1647 Wallace plant I have a fire hydrant sized stump. Are their any advantages to having one. I know their are definetly disadvantages.....and are there any other growers growing the 1647. Its a big grower and the rooting is fantastic.

Always been a sign of bad things to come here.

Yeah I agree, It is a bad thing. But I think it happens to the plants that have the most vigorous rooting etc. (Maybe it's a product of too much of a good thing.) Ronnie Wallace did an excellent article in the SNGPG Newsletter on foamers a couple years back. I would go back and look through it.

I'll have to defer the large stump question to paps.

You should get a huge discount on your house insurance now since there is a fire hydrant close by.

its been our experience that the bigger the stump the more likely you will get a visit from mr.foamy.
if and when it happens? we just drill the base in a couple spots to allow the foam to escape, keep pouring bleach and water through the openings for a few days, keep a fan on it.also we keep the base covered when watering or when it rains.

most times it stops after a few days and we are able to save of the base.although i question how effective that base is (going forward ) once it gets a few bleach baths?
