Wow- I see some diary posts with some young fruits being only 9 DAP, with cc's of more than 40 inches! Hard to compete with this amazing growth.
On to question: I know how to take the OTT measurements, but when folks talk about the cc of a young fruit, is it taken along then vertical axis (stem to blossom-end to stem), or around the lateral axis?
Thanks!

As far as envy goes dont sweat it. Some huge 10-20 day pumpkins never make it & some puny 20 day pumpkins kick it in later & keep growing right up till weighoff. It's a marathon Hoss not a sprint

EP...I think to answer your question, measure from the ground where stem is to ground where blossom is. Plus, if you have a smart phone, there is an app to make calculating oh-so-easy. Pumpkin Patch Pro. It calculated mine pretty much to precision last year. Good luck.

You know, I always thought cc was the circumferance, stem to blossom in line with the ground.

your right phil. Circumference all the way around, stem to blossom end parallel to the ground

Umm, now I'm confused. Circumference of a sphere is all the way around; if the pumpkin is a sphere, then the circumference is from the stem to the blossom end, and then back to the stem up the other side.
On the other hand, in "pumpkinese", "cc" may mean what is said above, a measurement from the stem to the blossom end. Sort of like 1/2 of the circumference?
Sorry to confuse this! EP

Should I make it plainer? You know, I always thought cc was the circumferance, a line from the stem to blossom all the way around, in line with the ground.
