It hailed a little last night - my plant isn't going to make it... I'm very sad

Give it a good shot of Fungicide and Kelp and you will be amazed at how the plant will recover if the main vine is not severly damaged

Sounds like some people think you might be giving up but like you say it's just a minor setback. It can grow back but our seasons are a little shorter and make it tougher to overcome, but anybody living in -40 winters and + 40 celcius summers is too stubborn to just give up. Some hoops and some late season protection might get you something. That's a win right there.

That is the worst I've ever seen, but give Linus' suggestion a shot, it might surprise you. You don't have much more than time to lose.

This morning a tattered male flower opened up so there is a little life left in the plant. The plant does need leaves though so we'll see if there are signs of new leaf growth.

This is what happened to ArvadaBoy in 2009.

Take Don's advice. Growing in Alberta is an adventure. Stick it out, you never know what you might get.
