First year using them here. Should I leave them on during periods of rain?

Yea, leave them on 24/7 . They will dry out quicker then you think after a good rain. I change my sheets out once every 7 days or so and wash them with bleach.

I've been using sheets for three years and never had a problem. I leave them on during the rain. Sometimes in the late season I throw a tarp over the sheet if it's going to rain to try and keep it dry. I remove the tarp when the rains gone.

I like tarping or tenting over the pumpkin..it will keep the ground surrounding the pumpkin dry..it really makes a difference around September here.

This is my new favorite way It handles the wind and stays bone dry. I use a white sheet under the tarp.

I use sheets for the first 50 days or so and then switch to a tenting system like George cause our weather usually turns to wetter at the end of September and for October.

I use white sheet and a tarp like Darren. I have extra sheets, and change out as they get wet. I use a smaller pvc set up though since my patch has limited light and I don't want to shade leaves.

We have shade cloth up,so from what I read here we also need sheets. Do you just lay the sheet over the pumpkin, or does it need a frame? Thanks

People that use a sheet just drape it over the pumpkin, most try to keep the stem exposed.
