I am going to be gone for a couple of days. I don't really have anyone to water my pumpkin. Is there any kind of watering option. Thank you for your help.

What I would try in this case is mulch, i.e., to cover the soil in between the vines with a thin layer of straw (maybe wheat straw), but make sure it is straw without significant amounts of residual grain. Then, prior to leaving, water the plant for a while (perhaps every day), to create a good moisture level in your soil. Due to the mulch layer, which reduces evaporation on the patch surface, your water in the soil might last one or two days longer than usual, even when starting with a patch of normal moisture level rather than over-watering. Also, you can add some more water around the plant. This will also help, without over-watering the patch area which is already covered by the vines and alot of roots (they would perhaps suffer from too much moisture).

I have seen a lot of the old timers at my allotment dip an old rag in a waterbutt and let the over end trail down to the soil. Not sure how usefull it is. Guess you would need quite a few water barrels.

A cheap timer and some sprinklers is the way to go. I like the Orbit brand.

I was just gone for a week and use an Iritrol timer. They are a lot more expensive than orbit type but it can water with a loop program all day long.

orbit has several types, some are multizone, some do multiple programs, all depends on the amount you want to spend to get the desired job done.
