Wonder if you could take a look at this pic in my diary. This picture shows the first couple of leave near the stump on the main vine. I wonder if this is just spray injury from me spraying before the leaves had a chance go cool off in the evening. Or if it could heat related, 10 days in the 100's, maybe sun burn or something not too bad and hopefully no disease. I would appreciate any advise and or comments.

It simply looks like an aged leaf to me. Certainly the sun and heat have been vrutal, but expect your first leaves to age and wear out this time of year. Some growers may be able to preserve them a bit longer, but I haven't figured it out yet if it can be done.

Its a combination stevann, but not just burn and age. I,d get rid of the worst leaves near the stump, it improves airflow around the stump and if theres disease and spores involved will eliminate spores flying around and more secundairy infection. To be sure sent out a test and keep a close eye out. Stump area leaves age first but your picture show more then normal aging to me.
Some disease as you know spread from the stump, so if you see leaves with simular symptoms and its progressing fast, then act.

Thanks for the replies. I am hoping its from the heat and sun and the age of the leaves just couldnt take it. I will check them this morning and clean up the area. Frank, if I see it moving, I will take the necessary action. I check for spider mites, nothing.

i have similar old leaves that i think might had an early sp8ider mite problem taken care of with too much spray on younger leaves that are now old. the first 7 or 8 first true leaves are toast here with a white blotchy appearance, disintegrated portions of leaves, and very bad looking. now the heat and humidity are gone for a bit and i do not have t mist so much that i can get in there on waking boards and start whacking them and using captan to prevent future rotten stalk bases from rotting vines where attached. when removing, try not to leave stalk bases cut so water pools in them. cut on angle so water drains out or flush to vine without getting too cute.

It's from the heat. It's just too freaking hot. Some of mine closest to the stump look the same way. Hard to keep them all covered.Past 11 days have been 102 or higher and 6 of those days broke records. At least the heat has cut down on the bugs.
