i was setting up for a pollination and saw something new to me. the secondary that accompanied the baby pumpkin was fused to the stem.only for about an inch and a half, and then it grew out like it normally would. ill be removing the secondary anyhow, but wondered if anyone has seen it before. could it create a much larger stem in circum. that could help feed that kin'?

keep an eye on it for a week. then make adecesion. keep or cull. most likely you will cull for one thats more normal.these things are difficult enough to train and grow without the freak factor. pap

I have one like that going right now on my 1789 Wallace plant. It is at 12ft and the entire stem and secondary is fused together. I cut the secondary already off at the pumpkin because of obvious issues it would pose. My hope is one of my later pollinations takes or I will end up growing it out. Since trimming the secondary at the pumpkin it is now healed over and part of the stump. Looks like I have a double stump now on that pollination. Will get a pic tonight.

How about a pumpkin with a vine growing out of its forehead?
