We just got some much needed rain yesterday afternoon about 4 tenths of an inch. Every plant looked excellent yesterday evening. Today very warm about 97, I got home from work and one of my plants has completely wilted. All other plants look great. Why would a completely healthy plant be wilted so bad in 20 hours that its leaves are on the Ground?

If there was wind with the rain, it could have broken the trunk where it comes out of the ground or you have vine borer(s) - look for sawdust type froth near the trunk.

If it doesnt recover it could be bacterial wilt.

I agree with Ron , take a look back on ur main vine starting from your pumpkin to the stump, you will find out quick by feeling ur main vine if its soft or not.

Alot of the times u can cut the main where its still good and grow ur pumpkin out with out a stump. I have grown a pumpkin with nothing but vines after the pumpkin with zero vines before it with no problem. Look back in my diaries and it should be in there. I just cant remember what year it was..lol good luck
