Heads up, fellow growers.

The powdery mildew on lilacs is NOT the same as the powdery mildew on curcubits. However, now might be a good time to start preventative maintenance on your pumpkin plants to avoid the dreaded PM later in the season.

I'm not growing this year due to some serious house construction, but I'm still in the growing frame of mind.

Here's one link on PM: http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7406.html

My mom has some early on her plants in the shade and I noticed a creeper weed.....those viney weeds with trumpet shaped white flowers...with every leaf coated. It too was in a shady area. Not much moisture or humidity here so far, but I agree, preventative maintenance is a must. Gonna do an actinovate spray and already did a lite daconil spray a week ago. Heavy stuff is not far off.

Clarify, my moms plants were flowers....not pumpkin plants. That fine white powdery mildew is a different variety....but fungus is amung us
