My 1789 is doing well. I should be pollinating my 1st female flower (around 17' out) in a few days. All secondaries are growing out nicely. Plant looks healthy and strong. I plan to pollinate with pollen from my other plant which is the 1304 Sperry.

Both 1789 plants are doing fine. I removed the first female at 12 feet because the plant took some severe hail damage but now have two showing at 15 and 17 feet that will get pollinated. The other plant is 6 days younger but growing well now that it recovered from the Hail. Both plants are good growers. One will get the 1647 as a pollinator, the other is up in the air yet. Maybe the 1303 Sweet or 991 Urena because of their Vigor.

My 1789 got its butt kicked by one of my 1381 Checkons at the hoop house stage. It was growing a skinny plant with long leaf stalks and smaller leaves.

My 1789 is doing better, had leaves on lateral vines curling and drying up like paper. left last weekend and got an open @ 10 ft, pollinating 2nd female @ 13 ft tomorrow with 1818.5 Bryson. I left the open on due to it's patch partners.

Pollinated one today on the 1789 about 13 ft out. Thanks Ron Wallace for giving me a 1647Wallace male flower last night so I could pollinate it. Got another one about 17ft out. Plant looks great.

One of the most aggressive plants I've ever grown. Bigger leaves and a nice root system on it. I'll be pollinating the only female to show up on the plant on Friday with either another 1789 or a 335 Scherber (clone that grew the 1725 Sweet x clone that grew the 1663 Zoellner).

Mine's in a race with the 1723 to see which is the best grower. At 11-12 feet I have a female that will prob be ready Sunday. IF the male flowers on the 1723 cooperate my 1789 will be pollinated with it. If not there's a 1610 leiber, 1315 harp, 1210 Van Hook and one of my own from last year a 1468 x 1663 cross.

My 1789 is doing great now. The plant had major leaf burn early but recovered well.
I pollinated a pumpkin at 10' and it is 25 DAP, taping 235 OTT, growing over 40lbs the last 2 days......crossed with the 1544.5 Revier.

Mine is king of patch. I had a problem with mutant secondaries but it has been fixed. Growing leaps and bounds now. Pumpkin on it might be the biggest day 10 i have ever had but it is too close to stump. Pumpkins have long skinny stems and are ovelish in shape. I am pollinating everything on main because I have learned my lesson in the last 4-5 years of doing this....1794 is next in line and my 1723 is slow and small...

Mine is also king of the patch. I have pumpkins poping up at 11 and 14-15' and they both with get a dose of the 1495 Stelts. Its going to make a really nice cross ("The Freak") even better. Then I will do the reverse with the 1495 getting a little 1789. Also another thing on my plant are the secondary vines, they are really strong and growing very fast. Last night I was burying vines and I found roots about 8-9' away from the stump. So far its the best plant I've ever grown. Thanks Pap and Ron

I am having trouble getting a valid female to pollinate on the 1789...looks like I will have a good one tomorrow(hopefully, it is a long way out!)...for some reason I am getting females that are attached to the secondary vine....ie..normally they are split. Anyone else?
