Hi all i have a 1600 McConkie plant growing very well right now. i have 3 pumpkins set one at 9 ft one at 10.5 ft and one at 13ft.
My question is should i cull the 9 ft one...i was planing on culling it when it first showed so i didn't cut the leaf node or the secondary. So the pumpkin has all the roots and the side vines around it. Today was day 9 and it has a 25inch circ.
My problem is that i'm heading back to my home town to help my dad with wheat harvest so i'll be gone from wednesday morning till at least sunday night.
If this pumpkin keeps growing at the rate it is the circ wil be around 55 or more by then and it is a nice round shape so it will be pretty big. Will it cause too much stress on the plant if i just let it go?

It may abort the others, so if its not the one you want...it may abort the one you do want....

Thanks for the tips guys...seems like there are different ideas for this type of situation. Note to self next year prep every pumpkin on the main vine!

Well i've decided to let it go for the rest of the week since it is growing very nicely and we've had so much hot weather i'm afraid that the pollination's may not take when i'm gone.
