My 2 plants are growing very slow. I have one that is finally ready to start its main vine. The other one just got its 3rd leaf and still pretty small. Anyone else having a tough time?

Sorry to hear that Ryan. My plants are a little more advanced but I'm having problems with the wind, sun burn and some excess nitrogen. It is a long race and I'm sure your plants will kick into gear soon.

the seeed start date and plant date are a big key. most competition growers at least in eastern usa start their seeds around the 20th of april, then put their plants out by may 1st (or so ) at the latest.----weather permitting along with proper heating and greenhouse type cover. being so far behind probably means you need to adjust your methods and timing for seed start and planting? pap

We had a pretty warm winter. I started my pumpkins at the end of April and to be ready to plant in May. Then I got delayed due to frost. I wasnt goin to risk that. They got in the ground around May 15th. Now that we havent had rain this whole month, i've watered them lightly in the morning if needed, then in the evening as needed. Its still pretty dry here in North Central Indiana. Hopefully I get atleast one decent size pumpkin this year. Any product recommedations?

Find yourself an ORBIT timer...they dont cost that much... I use one that controlZ 4 valveZ, 3 timeZ a day, one can set the intervalZ. Hose fitting oriented, battery operated. One can hook it straight up to a outside faucetZ, hose connect... Around $100. Drip WorkZ has them..--- > GrowZem BIG

Go Heavier/deeper with the water.
If your watering a little but often, the moisture will stay near the surface and the roots will stay near the surface. Then the surface dries along with the roots.
Try watering heavy at least an inch, during the evening. That will give the roots a chance before the sun dries the soil surface. Then skip a day or 2 to get the roots to seek out the deeper moisture.

I'll give that a shot. I poured a 5 gallon bucket of water on them yesterday. 1/2 n 1/2 on both plants. Still pretty wet this morning. I've noticed they have grown some. Starting to look good. But I'll def give that a shot.
