I've looked all over the e-net and have talked to some Agronomist but have not found an answer so here goes....What would be causing the spacing between the leaves on the main vine to be bunching up? Normaly it looks like the leaf posts are at about 12"-14" spacing but the plant is starting to spit out spacing at 3"- 4" w/ incredibly small leaves. Nothing has changed on my routines of watering and Ferts with all the plants but the 1449.5 Traylors Main Vines has started to severly bunch-up with one female looking to come out at 15 ft, and will the cubbies win the pennant?............NAAAAAA......ME EITHER....

Google plant fasciation and you will likely find your answer. What you describe, as well as doulble vine, flat vine and numerous other oddities that suddenly pop up with our plants are likely caused by a recessive gene that is triggered by stress. Temperature drop and several cloudy days will often cause several of my plants to show some sign of fasciation.

id consider going back on the main to the first side vine thats attached to a good looking piece of main vine. cut of the clusted main and train that secondary to be your new main vine.
nothing good will grow off a cklusted mess like you described.
some growers have had success trimming away at the clustered main .leaving just one piece of main to grow out however, this has mixed results as well.

My 1016 had started out that way, but now is starting to put some distance between nodeZ. I could see it was right on the verge of wanting to be a flat vine...(main vine big and flat) but then just kicked in...perhapZ yourZ is lying waiting to kick in too.......??

Someone else had this same issue the other day. I would water the heck out of the plant and if it can't correct the mess, cut it back, just as pap said.

All responses sound smart..Thanks for the input everyone. The Main on this plant is as normal looking as can be but its just like its an accordian and bunching up. I'll post a couple picks. I've been puttin alot of water to it and will watch for any changes..but as far as it wanting to go flat or double up?..Nope just shortining up between the nodes..weird May have to do the secondary trick on it..I'll give it a few days....I feel bad..Jason Traylor emailed me and said he was glad to see someone growing it and was going to watch....hope it straightens up for his sake. Thanks again you Good People!!Joseph
