I have a 1520 Sperry plant that is growing like a Champ so far (knock on wood) that is roughly about 10 ft out, I have noticed something about this plant that I have never ever grown before on any other plant that I have ever grown before and that is the secondaries growing out off the main vine are only spaced out about less then 3 inches apart from each other.(not that its a bad thing by any means)
I was wondering if anyone else has had this with a 1520 Sperry plant that they have grown before? Wondering if this could be a genetic thing?

Most likely a nutrient thing

My 1520 Sperry from last year did not do that. It did have some strange secondaries on this same date last year but it cleared up after 12 feet out.

Did you try a good dose of water? I am with Linus, sounds like a nutrient thing.

This did not happen on my 1520 Sperry last year. I did end up with a pumpkin that went 16% heavy and became my personal best. :-)

I have 2 of Steve's 1314 plants on the go here and one of them had a couple of strange looking secondaries at first but seem to be growing out of it.Nothing with secondaries that close together

Nothing strange as far as mutations, and the plant looks really really good Secondaries are growing fast, plant is nice and green and the vines are nice and thick, its just the leaf nodes are closer together then I have ever seen before on a plant. What kind of nutrient thing would you guys guess this could be with out a soil test?

It'Z "Shorty Disease" or more commonly known aZ Ferris Wheel SyndromeZ,.. I read it could grow 14 side vineZ in a 4 foot perimeter...... LookZ like a ferris wheel from above... You'll have to set you pumpkin on top of 4 tireZ to allow room for leaves to grow underneath. Hope I helped Brotha BrookZ.....I woulda done the same for Eddy.....just sayin
