Found a crack in the main of my 1079 this morning, pic in my diary (jeffp-just posted it). I had been shifting the main's position over the past few days. You can see the dent on top where the stick had been on the right side and the crack where the stress was left side. Its small Id say only 10% or so of the circumference overall.

I braced it above and below to prevent movement. My thought was to bury it deep once it scars over.

Any thoughts????

I'd leave it exposed to keep an eye on it

well i cleaned it and dabbed eagle on it and made a little cover to keep it dry. the pic has not yet made it into the diary section.
I would say easily 75-80% of the main is fully intact. there is only a small opening into the vine the rest of the crack looks like it did not penetrate into the interior.

Jeff, it is pretty minor and over time will heal and scar over...don't sweat it!!

Be carefull when training vines and dont add any more stress....it will be fine!!

Hey Jeff, remember the old quote from Crocodile Dundee "That's not a knife, this is a knife?". Well, that's not a crack, lol. You should be good if you keep it clean and dry. Like NSB said, don't sweat it.

Ok, i feel a little better. you hear that pop sound its like your going to puke.

My wisheful thinking side is that this plant will be so aggressive that crack is to temper the growth to prevent splitting:)
