Check out Saxomaphone (alan)'s diary. The storm hit Taber (his home town) early evening then we got it at 11:30 PM
Never seen lightning like that.
We had an inch and a half of rain in 15 minutes. but we were lucky cause we missed the crazy winds.

When you look at alan's diary, the big hoop house pipes that are bent are 1 1/4 in. Diameter Stainless steel pipes. Crazy hard to bend.

Sorry about your plants Alan, but glad the tornado missed the you and the town.

Oh no! Alan It's early in the season yet, so hopefully plants will recover. The last few years have been tough out on the prairies, spent some time last year hiding in the basement. Heard about the tornados and you guys were the first people I thought of. Glad to hear you and family are ok. I have some short words about mother nature I say under my breath now and then!

I'm just about to post pictures, but here's an update.

Every plant survived! My two squash plants at home were severely battered and covered in muck, but at 6:30am this morning, they looked not that bad. The storm knocked down barns, sheds, and massive trees all over town. Winds and rain were steady until at least 3am when I could get to sleep. I have no clue how they survived.

I'm not sure I made too many friends this morning pounding in the frame to the ground with an axe at 6:30 this morning, but they all know me as the crazy pumpkin guy.

The greenhouse is a different story. Any suggestions on how to fix it Eddy? I've got some ideas, but I'll post some pictures to see if you have any thoughts.

The storm picture I posted from June 5th is actually of the tornado forming behind the houses. We didn't know that at the time, which is why I was still at the front door taking pictures, just for a few more seconds, then the whole family hit the basement.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Alan

I was sure that looked like a tornado, and was wondering if you knew it when snapping pictures. Glad you made it through it ok.

I think you could support the bent pipe with a 2x6 braced at an angle so it doesnt go ahead and collapse in future windstorms until you can replace the pipes.

Easy fix for the greenhouse. Bring trailer and we'll load up new Arches.
Seen a ton of pictures on the news this AM of the aftermath also. You guys sure were hit hard.

Just glad everybody is OK
