Im a little worried with how hot it already is and PM hitting early this year. When do you guys start treating for it? I will be treating roughly 1.5 acres this year.

And what do you guys use for treatment? I tried organic home recipe last year and had terrible results

Eagle 20 when the plants are a 4x4 triangle size.

I use a combination of neem oil, potassium silicate, and aloe to treat PM. It's not a systemic though like Eagle 20. Keep in mind that you can't use Eagle 20 on your garden or any edibles.

I tried Actinovate last year and it seemed to work very well on preventing the PM and it is organic. We had a very hot summer last year in Colorado and plants around the pumpkin plants got hit pretty good by the PM but the pumpkin plants themselves that were treated didn't have much of a problem at all.

I've used Infuse for the last 3 years and have not had even a hint of PM in that time.

I start at the end of June and treat every 2nd week until harvest in October...

heat with a high humidity followed by rain is the real killer. all three together make for the worst of conditions.
which is why we preach not to water so late in the evening that the plants never get a chance to dry off.
if you treat properly though then powdery mildew should not be a problem.
we have used both eagle and actinovate with very good results.

ditto for the early arrival of cuke beetles and squash bugs. get your protective sprays on early.

I've had much better success using Actinovate as a preventative than as a treatment. Once PM had started to get bad, I had trouble getting rid of it just using Actinovate. Just my personal experience though. I have been using it as a preventative and I find it works well for me in this regard (it's just pricey is all)
