Is too much peat moss in the pit bad?

too much of anything can be bad. generally you never want more than 50% peatmoss be cause if it ever dries out it very difficult to wet again. I try not to go over 1/4 peatmoss by volume in any soil.

Additionally, most peat moss is around 5 pH so the more you use the more you have to compensate for pH lowering.
