Half Moon Bay Weigh-Off Ups the Ante with New $25k Prize

HALF MOON BAY, CALIFORNIA (May 21, 2012)

Organizers of Half Moon Bay's Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off have announced they are offering $25,000 in total prize money for the world's first 1-ton pumpkin with the goal of luring potential record busters to this picturesque seaside community for its October 8th, 2012 event.

To receive the $25,000 mega-prize, the grower must break and hold the world record and 1-ton record at the conclusion of the Half Moon Bay weigh-off. If two or more growers happen to break the world record and 1-ton barrier at Half Moon Bay, the prize money would go to the grower of the heaviest pumpkin.

The Half Moon Bay World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off will take place on October 8th on the I.D.E.S. Grounds, 735 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, CA.

The prize money is believed to be the greatest, by far, of any weigh-off in the world, reinforcing Half Moon Bay's reputation as the "Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs".

I havent been to Half Moon Bay since 1987.Stopped there on the way to Carmel where I saw Clint Eastwood at the Hogs Breath Inn.That would be a nice Drive.Any Melon money??

WOW!!! We were in Half Moon Bay in the 90's! Gorgeous drive coming in where it is a sea of orange!!! Just beautiful....and now THIS incentive!!!!
