I cant find his grower diary anymore. I kind of wanted to see what he could do this year. Maybe things weren't going like he thought they would.

Maybe some of you guys were too hard on Amelio? Live and let live? The last thread he started seem to be moving along nicely. Then somehow it got deleted. It was about heart shaped pruning for plants. It was interesting.

I think a lot of people missed some of the points he was trying to make. There was definately something lost in translation but he had some good ideas that made sense if you could sift through the information. I was looking forward to following his diary and seeing some of his theories put to use. I guess we've all been put on ignore for Amelio, I, for one, wish we could choose to opt back in.

Too hard? Missing the points? Even in kindergarten kids are put in time out. And he was not playing fair in the proverbial sandbox. There have been a lot of characters who have come on gone over the last 10 years I been posting. But really....I am one of the most forgiving understanding human beings on this world with the friends I have and the industry I am in. Whether it be a group forum message board or an idiot at work, if you don't nip that crazy crap in the bud, it never ends. It was only gettingworse. I appreciate the fact the Ken let it go that long to see if he could pull out of that nose dive. It was due. That's my opinion and I thank the man who brought it to a head and got a group consesus out there. It needed to be done. Jeff Shenoha.

Honest to God, what are we supposed to do, sift through the insults and take in all his wisdom, though he never grew an AG. If you want to keep in contact then do it through private e-mails. Who in the history of BP has earned an ignore feature?
Marv/John, go through the messages and get back to me what you learned that will enhance your ability to grow a big one. Marv, you're getting a little judgemental, John what points did we miss- the amateurs Wallace and Young?

Man, I am getting to the point where I don't want to log in to any giant pumpkin site

It seemed anyone who disagreed with him was either a Nazi or in Wallace's mafia or something else. I wouldn't care if he grew a world record, I wouldn't listen to him. Too many nice people out there who do well and offer advice freely to worry about him.

Andy, in answer to your questions....what are you supposed to do? Ignore him if you didn't get anything from what he was saying. What points did we miss? I think his planting method (in a depressed area on top of a mound) makes perfect sense to me. Also his ramblings about oxalic acid should have got some more attention. I used a similar type of product last year and went from 724 pounds in 2010 to 1266 pounds in 2011 and I believe this had a lot to do with it. I never said he wasn't disrespectful and definately crossed the line with what he said. He would have been booted off any other message board long before Ken ever got rid of him. I was just saying he had some good ideas and I was curious how his attempt at growing AG's was going to turn out. Never expected I would get jumped on for stating that, yikes.

Count me as one who is a little dissapointed that he was removed completely from the site. I am no fan of censorship, even if he was a jerk. I understand this is Ken's site and he has every right to run it as he sees fit, I just think everyone is a little too sensitive around here sometimes. I mean, the guy lives thousands of miles from most of us, how much harm was he really doing to you? You should live in the Northeast sometime where we are jerks to each other all the time just for fun, lol.

It was is own fault. With every attempt to curb is abuse with both nice and rude. He just wouldn't be apart of the group. He wasn't just being a jerk. He's nature was cruel and would only get worst. Yes my best hope was that he would not be cruel. So we could learn together. Haven't you noticed how peaceful it has been.

I am so glad that Shazzy, Andy and Dandytown picked up on the Monty Python thing. I was beginning to think I was the only one who ever saw that clip. It's been 40 years since I have seen that and I don't know why but it has always stuck in my head. LOL... To me it was so funny!!!

if you know Jamie 'THE WEZ' (1320)' like I do AND like the KY growers know em, you would know that 1320 would give anyone the shirt off his back(literally) to help other growers out then to start controversy among growers, I'm sure he wasn't trying to stir things up, but rather didn't know the entire story about this guy.

I can bet ya it wasn't his intent............ well... unless he had a half a 5th of that Kentucky whiskey in his gut with 2 or 3 women sitting on each side of him at his computer at the time of his posting..LOL

LOL Brooks and thanks for the kind words. You're right, I wasn't trying to stir the pot, essentially I was wondering if he excused himself or if the plug was pulled...no biggie ;}

Serious question here Brooks, if you got some good whiskey and a few women as company why the hell waste your time on the computer.....just saying

I had almost finished the calculations for the bibibolator to be able to handle the misting system of the application rates of the Oxalic Acid that Amelio was on the cutting edge of releasing before he was terminated. If I am not the new WR holder this year... I will always wonder.. what if.

I'm with Pumpkin Shepherd and Alex(pumpkinJesus) on this one. He did have some good points, that could have led to some interesting developments, despite all the usless banter. It amazes me that adults need an ignore button so they don't read something they might find offensive.

5/23/2012 9:26:31 AM

Some may see that he had some good point "yes" but that is not something new the so call good point, do you not know the information and facts are out there at the internet ? a "click of a mouse ?" and in literature if you know where to search for the answer ? have you heard of a "COPYCAT" ?? all he need to do is "COPY AND PASTE" just enough to convince you that know the subject like a pro and claim the credit like a "childish attention seekers"

Well for those that actually believe he had some good point or have fall into his trap please "think again."
the point is any one can find the same information that do not make a person "being Knowledgeable" with the subject because that is not his own "hard work and research on the subject" is someone research and hard work, that make him a "COPYCAT" ,
hope that make sense to you if you need advice I am sure there are lots of genuine well known senior growers will guide you to the right direction.

We all should on growing our personal best pumpkin and for the ultimate goal 2000 lbs Giant Pumpkin,"Good Luck" to all growers.
