theryll be a tiny bud there that would have been a secondary vine. that will be your main if you go with. It takes time for it to develop .

I've had that happen maily with moschata hybrids; like cojoe said, a vine eventually appears from the joint of one or both cots. I've gotten some good pumpkins from these, and never noticed a tendency for this trait to carry over in the offspring, so not sure if its genetic.

I have one where the second leaf is there but it doesn't seem to be growing. Its about 3/4 of an inch long and hasn't fully opened. The 3rd leaf is already growing and is slightly larger the second leaf already and the 4th leaf is already visible. Not sure what the implications of any of theat is.

I have also had this happen on my 1658. The 1st true leaf develop in a weird way - crumpled is the best way I can describe it. Then for second true leaf, the petiole is all that formed. The 3rd and 4th look like they will be normal. This sucks, but same on me for not having a back-up!
