abby pappy, i have a 1610 lieber that is abbynormal. when it germed it was ugly, looked like it had 2 first true leaves. i stuck it in the ground not knowing which way to plant it, as far as which way the vine would grow.now its starting to come around, got lucky and the first leaf looks good. i have a backup planted next to it and its way ahead. one of my crosses from last year, 1495x1385.what should i do? desperate in pa.

Scottie,
Just bring it up to my patch and don't worry about it!

i understand why you would want the 1610 rather than that backup plant, more promice and genetic size potential from that 1610 seed however, that is a call only you should make.

i will say that if the 1610 plant continues to straighten itself out?, and in a week looks like its going to grow properly?, id have to think long and hard before pulling it for a seed/plant that has not seen any success.

a few more leaves when compairing plants at this time of the year means little once the plants take hold.they should for the most part all catch up. go with your gut.

I don't think Norm's THAT ugly!!!

In fact he turns a Nice Deep RED after flipping a few compost piles on a sunny day!!

It's those hair roots under his nose you've got watch out for.
