the friendships you have made over the years doing this crazy thing we do. Nothing like some relaxing conversation yesterday with some cold beers (two of which were Schlitz lol) and some pizza, mixed in with some belly laughs and some strategy talk with your pumpkin crew. After a couple cold ones today after work in the patch and contemplating the 2012 season I thought of all the many years of fun with these other gluttons for punishment like myself. Pumpkins come and go....the friendships are what it is all about.

spending time in the garden enjoying the outdoors. The look on people's faces when they see some pumpkins that are even only 400 or 500 lbs and stopping to take pictures of themselves and their kids with them.

The great people I have met, seeing the families enjoying Pumpkin Festival, and the pure amazement that we grew something that big. It is truly amazing when you go to the patch and you can visibly see it has gotten bigger. Thanks to the great guys who helped me get started.

Shazzy, I have yet to meet another AG grower so I guess for me it is seeing relatives faces after they said I should just put a pool where the patch is.

Being able to get lost in the patch and not worry about the stresses of the day. It is peaceful place. Maybe it doubles as my Zhen garden.

Grim- that's more or less my reason too- peaceful plus fun, "sciency" and challenging.
