Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this to be a first for the giant pumpkin growing community. For the first time ever, a 2012 seed - the 1589.5 Barton 2012 - will be grown in the same year as it's mother. The 1589.5 set a new New Zealand and southern hemisphere record just a few weeks ago. Alan (AB) has told me that I will be the only one growing these in the north this year. Kind of neat and unique. Hopefully I can pop a big one for Alan.

At first I thought you got your dates wrong, but that is cool. Good luck with it.

Jake there are a few 101 Schmansky 12 that are going to grown also. Look in Greenhouse Growers diary for his 101. It was grown in a green house over winter.(1807x1647) I believe. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=174206

I have grown several of my own same year seeds for genetics. Plant in late April, harvest late August, seeds go in the dehydrator for a couple hours then right back in the patch. With a little help from Mother Nature, I can get a 30 day pumpkin with mature seeds in November.
