Hi, I just received my soil tests back and the micronutrients are on the low side. How important are these micronutrients and what products do other growers use to increase them? And where do they buy these products. Thanks! Greg

I am by no means an expert, so I don't know how profound of an effect a particular low micronutrient would ultimately have, but with as much time and effort we put into our plants, why not get those levels up out of a "low" level.
Last year I had low Boron and added Borax to the soil to address that issue. This year I had a low Manganese level and will be adding Manganese Sulfate when I till. I think throughout the season using a fertilizer that includes micro nutrients is helpful, and there are many of them.

I had not heard about Mulder's chart. Just Googled it: Looks like it was published in 1953 by a European scientist in a French scientific publication. It's a brilliantly simple visual way to describe some complex interactions between these trace minerals. Of course, it is a generalization, but nevertheless quite interesting! It seems to be very useful in explaining how agriculturists have determined the appropriate supplements for soil treatments.

I need to figure out how to work the "Ignore" button! I deal with frustrated academics like amelio every day.....don't need to deal with it here. Bye, amelio.

reading Emelios posts is like watching Joe Theismann getting his leg snapped in half by Lawrence Taylor back in 1985.
Every time I watch it I try to turn my head and look the other way, but something inside me makes me watch it over and over and over again making me say out loud...ohhhhhh ewwwwww dayummmmm, thats gotta hurt!
But this time Im going to try the ignore button and keep it there, its obvious he has no idea what hes talking about.

I'm hoping he has success this season, maybe then I can decipher what he's talking about, and maybe apply it.
