After 40 plus years it's nice to see the GI's who wore the military uniforms of this great land getting a proper homecoming! Those of us who were treated with disrespect by some of the very people we were protecting, can now put some of that to rest. I'd like to especially thank all who served and held their heads high through that misfortune and I honor all veterans, servicemen and servicewomen. God Bless

Ray, I was there too with the 1st Air Cavalry. Gary Owens! Custer's unit is in the Cav. Now they ride helicopters rather than horses. Marv

It was not "a war that happened a long time ago" as I heard a mother tell her daughter several years ago.

Patriots did what patriots have to do.

Thank you all.

I've been to Viet Nam;they make!!! you go to see Ho Chi Min's body. No choice. When I had to view his body; I cursed the whole time. I would have spit on it if I could. I honor our servicemen and our country. I did not have to go since I was in college at the time but have regretted it. We are Americans and stand together!

to fully understand that era of our countries history you really had to live it.
i remember well how a large majority of our service men were booed-cursed-called names -etc ,upon returning home from that hell hole. in reality? they were only doing what their country asked them to do.the people to blame ? the countries leaders? never fired a weapon, charged a bunker or lived the horrors of battle.

if anyone should have been booed ,etc, it should have been the politians who sat in washington playing political games ---with our lives, not the veterans who went through hell to just survive and get back home safely.

war never benefited anyone. history has proven that again and again.
i respect and have honor for all who served then and now.god bless all.

I think the thing that bothers me the most about that war was the way the draft dodgers were treated. Those who left our country and went to Canada and elsewhere to avoid serving were simply given amnesty, no questions asked. That has never seemed right to me given all who died and suffered horrendous injuries serving their country and doing their duty. What a precedent to set and what a disservice to the dead and injured and to every veteran of every other war. I know one guy who got married just to avoid going. Sad but true. Sorry, I just feel that way. Had not thought about it for a long time. Marv
