We finally made it home and I'm sitting down relaxing with a nice glass of Kentucky spring water. Luckily most all growers in the surrounding states made it through the tornados unharmed, we drove through a few of the storms that popped up, one really close in Charlotte WV, about 10 mins outside of the city, the National Weather Service sounded the Alarm about tornados in the area and what to do....if you've never heard a real alert, not the test alerts, while you are driving through unreal weather....let me tell you, it will scare the living crap out of you....that said, we were lucky, Dwight and Dan H kept in contact giving us updates and guiding us through the storms. Thanks Guys! The meeting was a Blast as usual, set up real well, Growers came in from Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, Mass, Tenn. Michigan, the Carolinas and more, but I am sure that the storms kept a bunch of growers from attending. The Van Hooks and Chris Kent put on great presentations (Chris Kent revealed two very interesting secrets about growing very large watermelons), Wayne Manned the Prize table and helped keep that straight, the venue was perfect, the Local Copperative Extension did a great job, and Tim Pennington and I discussed a new untapped source of information! There was a real nice Heavy hitters panel and they finished the day off with several very expensive fertilizer packages, a bunch of top notch seeds, paintings and other real nice items, being raffled off, not to mention the amount of Humic Acid and Kelp Meal available for seminar attendees to purchase, very well done!

Most of us went out to dinner together and then back to the hotel where we talked shop and laughed for a few hrs, I cant think of a better time! We even got to learn some new lingo, from now on, I'm going to grow in a holler, it seems that real big fruit can be grown there -LMAO! We always feel at home with these guys and look forward to going back! Thanks for a great time, I'm sure that we will be seeing big things from Kentucky!!!

The Seminar was great! Thanks to all who made it happen. The Heavy Hitters Panel was a excellent idea and very informative. Tom even learned a little southern slang, wrap your head around this one Tom, "I wouldnt care to grow in a holler either". Dont forget the great cookies that Glenna made...yum yum. Thanks Glenna!

The Kentucky guys are an awesome bunch!!! We always have a great time!!! A big shout out to Tim Pennington, Dwight Slone, Bill Brinkley, and Peace Wayne for all of their hard work putting the seminar together. Next time we are going to see the Moon Bow, which is another word that we learned along with the holler.

Even though the tornados followed us down I75, and we had to spend Friday evening in the basement of the hotel, we were still glad we attended this great seminar. I learned some things to do a little differently this year, and really enjoyed getting to meet the friendly Kentucky growers. It was a great time. Thanks for the informative and fun afternoon.
