As I unveiled in Vegas, here is the new chart:

http://greatpumpkincommonwealth.com/PDF/2012chart.pdf

It can be found in the Resources section of the GPC website, along with an updated version of the watermelon chart. As most have noticed, the pumpkin chart was overdue for a revision with an ever increasing proportion of the pumpkins going heavy to the chart.

Wayne - feel free to print off as many as you want, it's for everyone to use.

Dale - the 2005 chart was no longer a good fit for the pumpkins we have been growing the last few years. For a chart to be a good fit to the data, about half should be light to the chart, and half over chart. We were at about 70% of pumpkins over chart last year. It was reaching the point where the estimated weight will have lost all meaning.

That said, on the higher end (1500+), there is still a lot of variability. I am confident that the more data points we get at that range, the more it will fill in and support the new estimates, but we will know for sure in a couple years when it will likely need revision again.

Andy, do you have an excel version somewhere? I would appreaciate as it is less work to convert to metric. A basic grower here just thinks in kilograms and centimeters. And I hope it is ok you use your chart converted as long as the original source is mentioned with the rest of the disclaimers?

Someone else requested cm/kg, so I made one yesterday:
