Well! I guess I picked a good year to rest my patch, get my knee replaced, and have construction done on my home.
Not only that, but a Vermont grower told several of us last year that the world record was never going to be grown in Vermont.
Time to go around the world in 80 beers. Every month.

Scott , thanks for the inside scoop . I was thinking about taking this year off but now its a sure thing . Not worrying about spring soil prep , seed germination and all that work watering , burying vines plus getting my pumpkins to a weigh off. It will be nice just to get a vacation in this year.

Scottie, Scottie, Scottie. You must have had a bad dream last night after a full day of walleye fishing on the Susquehanna River. Then cooking supper and partaking in a few or more 16 oz cans of liquid nourishment. Did you wake up in a cold sweat? Is it still bothering you that I was the first grower in the area to weigh in a pumpkin over 1K in 2010? Remember last year's weigh offs, when you were so relieved you finally kicked my butt with a 1064.5 and a 1216. LOL. This is documented with the following pictures:

Yes,Scott, keep the cover crop healthy, put the seeds in the freezer and come up and help me pull weeds and bury vines. This will give you the opportunity to see that "WR" develop week by week from your 1216 DiMarco in my patch. And don't forget the liquid refreshments! Remember you taught me everything I know. LOL So you won't need my 1495 Stelts this year. I'll have to give it to Joe Eck, my only rabbit hunting buddy, now that you've severed ties with me.

Thank God for bigpumpkins.com. It is the only website where people tell it like it is, and there is absolutely no bullsh*t.
And the skies/are not cloud-dee/all daayy.

Hey Scottie, Better yet, since your patch is better than mine I'll just let you grow the WR this year. I will just help you out when Frank is not there helping you. I'll be growing a nice big orange Nana Rea pumpkin, one of my 943 Lengel , a Checkon and a 1216 Dimarco and a 1085 Williams. 4or 5 depending on patch prep and if it dries out from last years excessive rains.
Hey James, if your not planting you might as well forward a couple of your good seeds and I will alter my line-up.
Oh yea, Amelio, I don't know what you are implying but we're all carnivores in this neck of the woods.
VTSteve, Somehow beer is involved in a lot of the pumpkin growing decisions around here. LOL
So Scottie don't loose any sleep tonight. Work comes early. My goal is 1217 this year!

Hey Mark, I'd be interested to know how you define your "area" since I weighed a pumpkin over 1,000 lbs a good 20 minutes ahead of yours at the same weighoff.
Also, 1217, that's an interesting number.

Hey Orangeneck the defined "area" is Dove St., Williamsport to Pine Run Rd., Linden. No more no less. LOL. And the weigh off I was referring to was in 2010 at Altoona. Yes,it is a very small area!
