Why do we let them grow on the side? they are pollinated straight up, they naturally fall to the side, why don't we make them grow, opposite the stem end? seems like they should be grown this way, would make for a better looking pumpkin, just a thought. thanks

True growing them sitting straight up and down might make a better looking pumpkin, but last time I checked it aint a beauty contest. These things can get big and if you want to grow it on the blossom end that main vine would have to be really high up on each side. Leave it on it's side...

Richard B., w/ 4' of more of length, if pkn was standin upright, would make major prblm w/ raising main vine to that heighth!!! Have read more than once of failures due to not raising vine heighth up to mid of pkn, growing on it's side (18" or so). So far, w/ results I have seen, and read about...seems like on it's side works fairly well!! Peace, Wayne
