Do "exhibition only" pumpkins qualify to win HDA?

Can't see why not. Unless they are DMG.

good question however id have to say if you want your pumpkin to qualify for a gpc HD award ? enter it in the weigh-off to be weighed and judged as all others are.
a seperate pumpkin (ex-only) for a HD award? not a good habit to get into.could result in many others doing the same thing in future years.
the gpc HD award was developed to honor Howard,to be awarded to that one grower of the prettiest pumpkin entered into each gpc weigh-off. not as a side feature. pap

Mine did. Had a squash and pumpkin at IN State Fair (great folks) where they weigh in the same contest. Pumpkin was larger and prettier but squash was heavier. Pumpkin won HDA. Squash placed in weigh-off.

yes dave that is one of the exceptions at a gpc site. you can weigh one each of greenie and pumpkin.for that matter if the site measures lg or weights tomatoes.cantelope, etc, these also can be entered.

As long as the exhibition pumpkin has not been previously weighed somewhere else, I see no problem with it.

I was looking to find out if there's an official GPC rule to this more than personal opinion. Thanks for the input though.

by definition the word EXIBITION ONLY means just that.in other words when a pumpkin is on display but not for competirion its is known as exibition only. if its not entered into the weigh-off? then it cannot qualify for an award.it would be unfair to others in the competition to do other wise.

Back before the MAGPG ran the doylestown weighoff I had won a Howard dill award on a exb pumpkin. That one was a bit odd as they had narrowed it down to two pumpkins to choose from, and they happened to both belong to me. It never came up since and honestly I am undecided on the matter.
