Whats with everyone asking me if I roll my AG pumpkins to grow them big? I never heard of rolling pumpkins from the heavy hitters.

Never heard of rolling pumpkins either. It´s Rock-or-Roll, everything else would just be music (sort of). Ever heard of rolled oats being particularly heavy??? Probably the reason for them to stop the rolling thing at this stage. Happy New Year to you, grow `em big and heavy as a rock!

Some people "roll" or move jack-o-lantern pumpkins to try to get the perfect shape without a flat side. The milk feeding comes from "Littlehouse on the Prarie" episode. Many farmers had buttermilk (literally the liquid washed out of the butter) and they fed it to animals or watered their gardens with it.

I get asked the milk injecting thing all the time, seems to be the only thing people "know" about giant pumpkins over here.

Rolling seems to be common question. I tell them it would likely break the stem or the vine.
