Are anybody cutting of the mainvine when they have got the pumpkin they want?Or is it better to let it continue further out? Thanks.

Some people do cause of vine positioning, or if the fruit isn't close to 90 degrees from the vine or can't be repositioned. If you have the room, IMO, more vine past the pumpkin is more juice or weight added.

Search the Word "SINK" there are many theories :) Joe Ailts looses me real quick when he starts talking viscous fluids like phloem and xelom.

Good call, Linus. Last winter, as we prepped for our first year of growing AG's, I poured over old posts on this message board and stumbled upon Joe Ailts' discussions on source/sink relationships and the importance of the growing tip of the main vine. I found them very interesting and the other growers chiming in had lots of good input. Bossen, do a search for "Jose" (Joe Ailts) and read his posts, you'll find lots of terrific information

Thanks for the 'nods guys, I appreciate the acknowledgments. Indeed there's been a lot of thorough discussions on these topics over the years and its always fun to revisit them for more perspective from those who have learned and those who have joined.
