This is most probably a program which is reading all kind of message boards, identifying and collecting email addresses for spamming. With BP I think it is done by opening the diaries of individual users, and searching in the source code for email address (which is on the top of the each user's diary page, and easy found) and collecting those.

It is typical for spammers, and as long as pages are open and the email addresses can be found there, I think there is not too much anyone can do to prevent this. On the message board it is good practice to write the email addresses with extra spaces like john . doe at aol . com . People can understand how to convert this to the actual email address, robot programms most likely not.

The diary is the only place on this website, where my email address can be found, and this girl wants to get to know me as well....

My brothers email is on our diary and he didn't get it but I got it so, I must have posted my email on the message board and thats how I got it.

if that is the case, you are right. Normally they scan all kinds of message boards to collect addresses, on BP it is easy to acquire addresses from diaries as they are directly in the source code of the individual diaries main pages.

Of course people can download pretty much the whole site visible for all users and scan all the pages, but if you do not have you email anywhere on the site, then someone knows how to get into the system and the user database.

Mine was sent directly to my spam folder --- so wouldn't have seen it unless I looked there. Guess it's already been flagged as spam for AT&T Yahoo mail users. (their Spam filter does a pretty good job of weeding out most of this type of thing)

Picked up someones email address book that has pumpkin folkZ in it...and has sent out emails to all.... Properly updated dat files with good antivirus is a must. Also make sure you update your MS patches, and Adobe as well of course. I like to set it up to down load it but ask me before installing as I control all on my machines. And for heavens sake, dont update wirelessly...everything automatically, spend little time on your laptop then tell your husband IT guy that your damn new laptop is already bad and doesnt respond very well. Ill be taking away her admin privieZ....again......GeeeeZ But make it a habit to update, scan, and give it time to do so. Oh yeah, stay off the porn siteZ, couponZ.com, and the game sites unless you are 100% updated. Dont click on the turkey to guess itZ weight. ThereZ all kinds out there.... I just got an email that told me my direct deposit failed and to enter my info in the email. FOlkZ.....reputable banks NEVER ask for your privacy info ONLINE, if they do, you better question them. They must provide proper credentials somehow prior to that. NO Social Security info over the phone unless You know FOR SURE, itZ legit. Be smart, stay safe!

And never....give your privy info...to somemone call
