I noticed in the co AG post there are growers taking pot shots at me. I don't apprecitate it and if a grower has something to say, I wish they'd addess me directly. And not talk behind my back.

No more negative posts or references about "giant jack" please. The past is over, he is a member of the MAGPG and an avid orange grower. There is always a transition between growing regular stuff and growing the monsters. "jack" learned this, perhaps the hard way, but never the less is a great guy. Please honor this request. Any problems email me directly and dont bring the community down by posting it here.

Jack, please accept my sincere apology for my bad attempt at trying to add some humor to that post at your expense. It wasn't right and there is no use in diggin up old bones. I hope there are no hard feelings. Vince

There's no hard feelings, I was a little surprised is all. My advice to any new grower would be to forget everything he or she thinks they know about growing when it comes to AGs. They are a unique growing experience unto themselves. And the only place to learn how to grow them is on the site and from other AG growers.

Looking back at some of my posts, I see where everyone is coming from. I thought I was just being factual, I didn't realize I sounded arrogant at the time.
Maybe one day someone will figure-out what the genetic twist to AGs is. Maybe they're genetically engineered to go all out in a way no other plant is.
All I know is you can experience dramatic results growing something else and then try the same thing with an AG. Only to experience tiny little to no improvement. And way short than if you'd just grown them the way it's all ready being done. And saved yourself the time, expense and hours of research too.

amelio "Read, Read, and reread", Giant Jack's last post just above your's. He's joined a club, got a member's backing,(Orangeneck), got his hands dirty in the patch, and seems to be at the mercy of AG's like most of the rest of us.
Only the arrogance of your posting was being compared to Jack's(last year).
Just a NOTE: I look nothing like that picture!! I may be as svelte as the vines, but I'm only "green around the gills after a few libations.

Slightly off this thread, but a place where I´d like to leave a few words regarding amelio, science, enthusiasm and probably many many other things. Well, Giant Jack got backing from Orangeneck, one year after having grown pumpkins, having made his hands dirty. I just don´t want to wait for about a year until I will do that for amelio. In the past days we´ve had sent some emails and I felt like I develop a much better understanding for his thoughts with respect to growing giant (and other) veggies. In his emails he sounds much more polite than in some of the posts on the message board, and therefrom I conclude that language barriers might have contributed to the current mood associated with reading some of his posts. From the scientific point, he has gathered experience over a couple of decades (I simply believe in what he told in this regard), and now he just cannot stop his enthusiasm to spread his great plans all over the world.

In emails he explained some of his strategies, and to me it makes sense what he is writing...how to mobilize Mg, low temperatures are bad for Mg availability from dolomite etc. etc., and if you ask me, he is just so keen on making the big plan become real, he doesn´t want to wait for another five months, there´s scientifically founded great enthusiasm for what he´ll be doing in 2012. I just wish to point out that some (or many) of us could perhaps benefit from his input, I see great potential for that. Even though the more experienced AG growers found some of his comments extremely inappropriate (not talking about those comments where some people felt attacked), I would be happy if all of you could read his 2012 diary with open eyes and with innocent and peaceful mind. He will be doing his best to get pumpkins and other veggies grow his way...not for you, but for his son and for amelio himself, because he has extremely great enthusiasm for his plan and just cannot stop to share it with you. He might be the one we just needed to prove this plan work. All my best wishes.
