With the recent post on Auction ethics, I think it has put a negative light on alot of clubs. It points to the direction that clubs are just trying to up the payouts which only benefits the winners. Most clubs do alot for the average grower, Patch tours and annual meetings provode learning experiences for growers. Some clubs help with ammendment bulk purchasing to lower costs. Since I'm an average grower its the little things that matter most in the clubs I join. I may or maynot ever win a weigh off but with the support of a good club I'll be one happy educated grower.
SO lets not focus on the money for once and tell us what your club does or has done to make your growing experience better, easier and more understandable.

Team Lunatic!!!!!! Just a bunch of guys who openly admit you need to be a lunatic to be involved in this hobby. We have our own logo and have had hoodies made. Last year we had our first auction to support the Woodbridge weighoff which was in desperate need of funding. We also sent Lorraine Jepson a sizable check to help ease her difficult times. We will be having another auction this year and as usual the money will be used for something positive.

P&T Grower Club...
"Growing for Greatness"
Getting in good seeds, starting plants if that's what it takes, patch and garden visits to help with growin'... handing out plants at the schools and at the Santa Fe Trail Daze in spring, to get people growing... somebody to water and weed if a grower has to leave for a bit during the season... our lending library for local members... and our weighoffs.
We support our growers, and our county fair. In the end everyone wins.
2012 is the best looking yet, for those looking to grow, and grow for greatness. Grow'm bigger!

Steve Minor, Vermont Giant Pumpkin Growers Association(VGPGA)
Proud to be a member of a small club with a big, friendly heart that serves Vermont, parts of New York, and Quebec with additional members spread across the USA. We work hard to help others grow vegetables and fruits bigger and have fun doing it.
We are slowly getting bigger, and our weights are going up every year.
